About Us

O’Connell Financial is one of Citrus County’s oldest financial services firms. O'Connell Financial offers more than 92 combined years of professional service in the financial and investment advisory field.

Through our office and current business relationships, O'Connell Financial offers the business professional, and the retired person financial and estate planning services. Some of these products and services include how to properly register assets according to a client's stated goals and objectives, taxation control, gifting, trust usage, tax shelters, nursing home protection, investments and insurance.

Additionally, O’Connell Financial has relationships with a network of investment advisers to provide fiduciary investment options for foundations and “not for profit” organizations. 

Mark J. O'Connell 

 

Mark is a senior partner of O'Connell Financial. He has 24 years experience practicing in Florida and other states. Mark has completed 2 years of college having attended St. Petersburg Junior College and the College of Central Florida. Mark is a holder of multiple military awards including the Overseas Service medal. His military service was with the U.S. Army in Korea with 3 months DMZ Patrol mission. Mark also owned and operated a broker-dealer and performed in various capacities with the operation and management of the company.

Brian C. O’Connell

Brian is a senor partner of O’Connell Financial with 29 years experience. Brian is a 1978 Graduate of St. Petersburg Junior College with an Associate in Arts degree & a 1980 graduate of Florida State University (FSU) with a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Risk Management & Insurance. After graduation, Brian worked as a property and casualty insurance agent with Stockton, Whatley, Davin & Co. (SWD) in Tampa, FL.  In 1982, he went to work as a Registered Representative with Raymond, James & Associates in Crystal River FL. In 1984, Brian and his father, Ronald O’Connell opened O’Connell Financial and was later joined with his brother Mark O’Connell in 1987. Brian is a graduate of the College for Financial Planning in 1988 and formerly held the designation of "Certified Financial Planner" but has since voluntarily chosen not to continue his CFP designation. In 1992, Brian graduated from Christ for the Nations Bible Institute in Dallas, TX with a degree in Practical Theology. Brian also manages the Sanctuary Mission Inc., a homeless shelter for men in Homosassa, Florida and is an Associate Pastor at the Crystal River Assembly of God.
